2022 Kaohsiung's Recycle Promoting Project of Livestock Wastewater, Ammonia, and Nitrogen

There are a total of 456 animal husbandry companies in Kaohsiung City that have pasture registration certificate or livestock and poultry breeding registration certificate. Currently, 443 are in operation, 2 are suspended, 10 are closed, and 1 is shut down. Among the 443 operating companies, 358 have obtained basic emission permits, including 322 swine farming (including 3 with less than 200 swine), 29 cattle farming and 7 companies with other species (duck, sheep, horses, and deer). The rest of 85 companies (pig farms with less than 200 pigs) have approved the livestock wastewater management plan. As of November 30th, 2022, 136 livestock farms in Kaohsiung City have obtained approval for the use of biogas slurry and biogas residue, of which 129 are swine farms and 7 are cattle farms. The total irrigation area is 152.1 hectares, with an annual irrigation volume of 195,384 metric tons. Fruit trees (banana, guava, and mango) are the main types of irrigation crops, followed by rice, vegetables, grains and other crops. A total of 63 livestock farms in the Erren River Basin have obtained approval for the use of biogas slurry and biogas residue agricultural land, and 29 households crown the key station - upstream of Guting Bridge. 49 livestock farms in the Agongdian River Basin have obtained the biogas slurry and biogas residue agricultural land fertilizer, with the key station - upper reaches of Chianchou Bridge having the most, 37 farms. A total of 112 livestock farms in the two watersheds have obtained approval for the use of biogas slurry and biogas residue, accounting for 82.4% of the total approved number.
